Change of employer
Check the consequences before you sign.
A temporary residence permit tied to work is bound to specific employment conditions. Changing employer, position or working hours may require a change to the permit or a fresh application.
The order of steps matters
The cheapest moment to check the consequences of a change is before the contract is signed, not after. Once the change has happened some routes close, and the clock starts when the office learns of it, not when you do.
What exactly changes
The assessment covers two things at once: the legality of your stay and the legality of your work. These do not always move together. Work for a new employer can require a separate document even though the residence card remains valid.
- Changing employer under a work-related permit.
- Changing position or the scope of duties.
- Changing working hours or pay.
- Moving from an employment contract to another form of cooperation.
What we do in this matter
- We assess how the new work affects your permit.
- We set out the required steps and the order to take them in.
- We prepare an application to amend the permit, or a fresh application.
- On the employer's side, we put the employment paperwork in order.
If you are the employer
We also work with companies that employ foreign nationals and want their paperwork and employment obligations in order. We are not an employment agency: we do not source workers or jobs.

Frequently asked questions
Can I start the new job straight away?
It depends on the basis of your stay and on which document covers the work. We check this before the change, because the consequences reach both your employment and your stay.
Can my employer take care of this for me?
Some obligations sit with the employer, some with you. We separate them clearly so that neither side assumes the other will handle it.
