Questions and answers

We answer the awkward ones too.

The questions we are asked most often, gathered in one place. If yours is not here, write in a messenger.

About the service

We provide legal help in residence and work matters for foreigners. Your contract is with Kancelaria Adwokacka Andrzej Bołtryk, and an advocate is responsible for the quality of the help. We are not an employment agency.

Before you write

You need no documents for the first message. Your citizenship, current basis of stay, what the matter concerns and the date on the letter if you have one are enough. Do not send scans on first contact; we will ask for them through a secure channel once the case is accepted.

How to prepare for the consultation

  • Passport and your current residence document or visa.
  • Employment contract or other proof of income.
  • Correspondence from the office, especially a request or a decision.
  • Dates: delivery of letters, filing of the application, the start of your stay.

The fuller the information, the more concrete the assessment. If you do not have something, say so; a missing document is information too.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Legal Stay and who provides the service?

Legal Stay is a trading name of Kancelaria Adwokacka Andrzej Bołtryk. We are not a separate company or an agency: your contract is with the firm, and an advocate is responsible for the quality of the help.

Do you help find work in Poland?

No. We provide legal help in residence and work matters: documents, submissions, representation before the office. We are not an employment agency and we publish no job offers.

Do you guarantee a residence card?

No. Decisions are issued solely by public authorities and no lawyer can honestly guarantee an outcome. Before we take a case we assess the legal basis, the documents and the risks, and we tell you plainly how we see the situation.

What language can I deal with you in?

Polish, Russian and English. First contact and day-to-day communication can be in English; the legal analysis and the submissions are prepared by the firm.

Do I have to travel to Białystok?

No. We handle cases across Poland, and most formalities, including filing through MOS, happen online. Attending in person is needed only where the office requires it, for instance for fingerprints.

What should I do if I have a request with a short deadline?

Write in a messenger and give the date of delivery. The deadline runs from it, so the first thing we do is check how much of it is left.

What does the help cost?

We quote after assessing the case and before the contract is signed, and the price stays fixed in the contract. The cost of the consultation is credited against the fee if you instruct us.

Do you take cases that can no longer be saved?

If we see no real prospect of helping, we do not take the case and we say so plainly. Running a hopeless case would be a cost to you and nothing else.
